A stunningly modern new build bespoke property located in the village of Shaldon, South Devon, perfectly situated on the bank of the estuary of the River Teign. The Clients wanted this property to have the “wow” factor and the end result has certainly lived up to the vision. This is a beautiful, contemporary property which has been lovingly created at every step of the way. An important part of this is the Schuco Facade on the North Elevation. With the majority of this elevation being glazed elements in Anodised Light Bronze, the Clients opted to have a prominent curved glazing element to add depth to the overall shape of the building.
The main challenge for this property was capturing the curved element design and implementing this exactly as the Client wanted. This element also needed to maintain the performance requirements of the building specification whilst making this elevation stand out from the surrounding environment. This elevation faces the estuary of the River Teign, so it was imperative that we used a Schuco curtain wall system to ensure it could withstand the inevitable weathering but also still provide the aesthetic qualities to meet the Client’s vision. We knew we would have a challenge in getting this curve manufactured, especially using curtain wall profile in an anodised finish but the end result was far beyond all expectations – it looks fantastic and unique but also provides the necessary protection from the elements.
