The Architect was asked to completely renovate this 1980s property built in the heart of a very historic village. The brief was to modernise the layout and the connection with the walled garden at the rear, improve the master bedroom on the first floor and aesthetically improve the overall property to fit more sympathetically in the Conservation Area of North Curry.

Although most of the work required renovation and alteration to the existing, a new dining extension was proposed featuring a steel frame roof system with cantilever corner and corner opening Frameless sliding doors. Our design pitch to the client was to utilise the existing external blue lias stone garden walls as the room enclosure and have floor to ceiling opening glazing with flush finishes and minimal frame. The Slimline door system has minimal profile between doors and these are lined up with the steel box posts that sit inside the glazed envelope. When sitting at the dining table your backdrop is a beautiful wisteria rambling over a traditional stone garden wall.

Limestone flooring throughout with level finish to external natural paving creates a seamless look. New oak detailed porch and additional oak framing around the garage and walkthrough help keep a balance between the traditional aesthetics within the conservation area and the contemporary additions that provide a much needed link to the walled rear garden.
