We provided the bespoke architectural aluminium glazing for this impressive new orangery, added to a significant Grade II listed country manor set within an extensive private estate.
The house has evolved over generations, with each generation adding its own mark to the property. This new orangery continues that tradition, providing a contemporary addition that enhances the house while respecting its historic setting.
The Client wanted to create a light, open space that would extend the use of the house and strengthen the connection with the surrounding grounds. Large areas of glazing, opening doors and an impressive rooflight allow natural light to flood the space and bring the landscape into the heart of the orangery.
We were approached by Jonathan Rhind Architects to help develop the glazing solution. Working closely with the architects, we used our design and planning expertise to create a scheme that complemented both the new architecture and the character of the existing estate.
The result is a bright, modern space that feels naturally connected to the gardens and provides the current generation with their own addition to this evolving family home.
The main challenge was creating a contemporary addition that felt at home alongside the historic manor and its surroundings.
Our glazing solution needed to maximise the views, natural light and connection to the grounds while giving the Client the flexibility to open the orangery fully during warmer months.
Using a combination of Schüco folding doors, Tilt & Turn windows and a bespoke rooflight, we were able to achieve the light and airy feel the Client wanted while maintaining a clean, understated architectural appearance.
The finished orangery adds a new dimension to the property — connecting the house with its grounds and creating another chapter in the ongoing evolution of this remarkable estate.
