Project Name – Thiptara
Building Category – Residential
Location – Devon
Architect – BBH Architects
Thiptara is a striking new-build residence that marries European villa-inspired elegance with modern living comforts, situated on the breathtaking south Devon coastline overlooking the Dartmouth inlet. This project, a collaboration with Goulden & Sons as contractor and BBH Architects as lead architects, exemplifies the harmony between heritage design and contemporary luxury.
The architecture of Thiptara draws on classic European villa aesthetics, featuring natural stone in a rich, earthy tone that grounds the house in its coastal surroundings. Expansive curved openings are inset with heritage glazing, creating a timeless yet sophisticated look that lets in abundant natural light.
Inside, the residence is equally impressive. The split-level upper floor, fully glazed from floor to ceiling, offers panoramic views of the inlet. Large, sliding doors open onto a spacious terrace, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces and providing a front-row seat to stunning coastal vistas. The modern interiors include premium insulation, underfloor heating, and all the contemporary amenities one would expect, complemented by an outdoor swimming pool that overlooks the scenic landscape.
Thiptara is not just a house; it’s a sanctuary that captures the essence of coastal luxury and timeless architectural beauty, a perfect retreat that both honors and enhances its natural surroundings.
